A Focus on Service

In February, the Grade 1 classes were looking for ways to do real work for real people with real needs. They decided that they would partner with Bonavista Evangelical Missionary Church’s food pantry (Mrs Munton & Mrs Heinrichs’ church) to bless people within South Calgary. The grade 1 students did extra chores at home and brought their pop bottles to the recycling depot to earn some grocery money. They earned around $800! Then, they went shopping in the auxiliary gym to fill their grocery bags. The full bags, along with notes of encouragement were then dropped off at the church’s food pantry by parent volunteers. The grade 1s wanted to show that while they may be small they can do BIG things for God!
